What Does It Mean to Be Leed Certified?

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used environmental rating system in the world. LEED’s requirements can be applied to virtually any building, community, or home project and serves to provide a framework for healthier and more efficient green buildings for everyone.

Strathcona Cleaners provides green services that meet all of the LEED requirements. LEED Canada’s requirements for housekeeping services are the following:

  • Purchases that contain at least 10% post consumer and/or 20% post-industrial recycled content

  • Purchases containing at least 50% rapidly renewable resources  

  • Purchases consisting of 50% Forest Stewardship Council certified paper products

  • Rechargeable batteries in battery operated equipment

LEED Canada sets environmental guidelines for everybody. Whether you are a working in your house or a large corporation, LEED Canada strives to set guidelines for environmentally friendly practices in all situations. LEED also has a point system that promotes competition between companies to reach the highest tier level of achievement.
